Has parking which is always nice, great view, great food, great staff, got recommended a nice wine, they didn't just try to sell me the most expensive wine, the only negative aspect was the time it took for the good to get to the table, but if you're not in a hurry even that time is great to sample some wine and some entrées

O Cafe da Praca

About 10 meters from the Pilory - one of the symbols of museology of Constancia at the Square Alexandre Herculano, is situated "O Cafe da Praca". It does not serve food; only cafeteria service: sandwiches, toast, pressed mix toast. But the product that distinguishes the Cafe from the others is "Queijinho do Ceu" (little cheese from the Heaven)- The conventual sweet cake of Constance, consisting of a cilindric box of almond and egg sweet inside of it.This cake has been awarded several times in contests of conventual sweets in which the Nuns Clarissas (Santa Clara de Assis Order) have participated.

The tourist office recommended this place. It is very quaint, stone built with many rooms leading off. We were treated to a wonderful array of Portuguese food with starters of Parma ham and local cheeses, main course of pork and octopus, we were driving and not able to taste the wine. It was a wonderful experience, attended by English speaking friendly staff and the 'Boss'.
Don't miss this experience.

A Luria

Reviewed By Matthew K - United States

This place was recommended to us by our innkeeper. We went, were blown away and came back again a day later.
The food is outstanding: fresh, delicious, authentic, well prepared yet sophisticated enough to stand up to gourmet standards. The desserts are truly out of this world.
The decor is tasteful and versatile - you can find a seat in different parts of the dining hall fitting your mood and agenda: a table with the view in the corner for an intimate couple's dinner, a seat closer to the bar and tv for a friendly gathering or a table by the wall for a quiet family dinner.
The service is impeccable. We relied heavily on recommendations from our waiter, especially when it came to wines (I know nothing of Portugese wines or Portugese grape varieties) and our expectations were systematically exceeded. This should not come as a surprise given that A Luria is a family business and our waiter represents the third generation of it.

Flor de Sal

We went to Flor de Sal for a Saturday night dinner. First, the décor of the place is so rich, it takes you a few minutes to take in everything: it's quaint and rustic, but very natural. Then, the menu showed us a lot of excellent options, and the problem was choosing between them: I went for the brased tuna with vegetables, and everything was really tasty. Please save some appetite to try the desserts: the "Vaso de Flores", besides being so well though out visually, is delicious! I'll definitely go back, and try some other dishes! Also, congratulations for the staff: really helpful and very welcoming.

We spent a night in the countryside close to Almoural and were surprised that out hotel's restaurant was closed Sunday. They suggested we try this restaurant and it was wonderful. A family restaurant so very easy going ambiance. Great views over the water and this cute charming town. Service went over the top to welcome us and help us with all of our choices. I didn't like something so they changed it for me, with a smile... The meal was delicious and it was a very nice evening.

Recanto da Barquinha

Reviewed By MrsVdW - Bath

We had a delicious lunch with amazing flavours that we would not have expected to find in this small but beautiful corner of the Santarém region. Artur, the charming chef and owner, has an impressive knowledge of the wide variety of world cuisines that are served with pride in his restaurant. We dined on chamuças vegetariano (samosas), curried chicken rissole and poppadums to start, a delicately flavoured Nepalese mango chicken curry and spicy Goan prawn balchão with jeera rice and naan bread for mains, and finished it all off with a lime mousse and a Brazilian coconut egg custard dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious, so we will definitely be making many return trips, especially as there is such an extensive and varied menu, something that can be difficult to find in this part of Portugal. Can't recommend highly enough.
