Cabane a sucre Erabilis

This is a traditional "sugar shack" restaurant at a traditional maple syrup farm, updated with healthier versions of traditional sugar shack fare. Family owned and operated.

We went for Easter supper. The food is buffet style; you are called by table, first arrived-first called. I found the food overcooked and very ordinary, even if it is supposed to be "healthier" than other sugar shacks. The owner has a lot of rules concerning garbage, recycling and composting. Don't get the bins mixed up.I've seen and tasted better at other sugar shacks.

Excellent, friendly service! Great selection of music made for a fun and lively setting. We both enjoyed the haddock and fries. Very fresh, hot and served with coleslaw and very good tarter sauce. Portion size was adequate for the price of $11.25.(one piece). Lion's Pride microbrewery beer was excellent! They also serve a large selection of ice cream for those hot summer days.

Had breakfast here as we didn't want the very expensive (and therefore presumably large) breakfast our hotel was serving. It also had the advantage of opening at 8.30am (these must be the winter hours as the webisite says 7am). It did seem to be the only place open in the village though so we didn't have any other choice. The room felt a bit dark and sparse but it did have a lovely open fire. We both had the Cuban omelette which was very good (though unseasoned) and came with tea or coffee and a small smoothie, home fries, fruit, good toast, jam and some very nice chocolate sauce which was a lovely and unusual addition. Overall a really good little breakfast.

An average place for coffee, convenient location, would recommend for its value.Would not recommend the Pilsen, food of extremely poor quality and high priced for what you get.....old tasting food.

Pilsen Pub Restaurant

Reviewed By Mark F

After enjoying the North Hatley antique show, it was time to find a late lunch. Walking into the village I discovered the Pilsen Pub with both a pub menu and a dinner menu. Ideally situated overlooking the river and lake. There's a large patio at street level where you can watch the world go by, or a narrow deck right at river level and a large upper terrace. The dinner menu looked good and for lunch I ordered the gazpacho ad Tuna Tataki. The gazpacho was cool and refreshing. Perhaps a bit too much tomato, but still pretty good. The tuna was lightly seared, nicely flavoured and accompanied by an Asian influenced salad. Definitely a hit. All washed down by their local brew. Overall and enjoyable meal and relaxing stopover.

We visited for lunch, having originally considered staying here for four nights, but having received rather snooty responses to our email requests, stayed elsewhere. It was a good decision. The place looks rather tired and very different indeed to the beautiful website photos, the receptionist was totally charmless and local people told us that many guests were expressing disappointment. The view over the lake is beautiful, but other than at the hotel’s pier / pontoon you can’t walk by the lake so you are somewhat trapped. Lunch in the Tap Room is fine, but no more than that. We sat on the covered terrace with a lake view. The lunch menu is (quite reasonably) simple lighter food. I started with a salad and my wife had oysters which clearly didn’t belong in the shells in which they were served - they had been put in very small shells for a fairly large oyster. It is quite disconcerting eating an oyster that is no longer alive. My wife followed with cod and I had the prawn entrée which were both fine. For pudding the apple crumble bears no relation to the real dish and the apples were barely cooked; fairly awful It was also served with cream in a doll’s house sized jug. The lemon curd pudding was excellent. We chose a bottle of Québec white wine from a fairly good if expensive list. The service was fine, saved by a very charming French waitress. The bill for two was C$200 which felt a lot for what we had. I wouldn’t go back or recommend it. On our return home our hosts said why didn’t you go to Ripplecove which we did the following day which is vastly superior and reviewed separately.

Auberge Le Coeur d'Or

Our group of six people spent a wonderful evening in this small family-run restaurant that is part of Auberge Le Coeur d'Or. We had a number of different items on the fixed menu - and each one was delightful. Our server was very attentive and helpful in explaining various courses. In addition to our own wine, we also brought our own beer which she also opened and poured for us. We would highly recommend Le Coeur d'Or for anyone that wishes to have a fine meal in North Hatley.

What a fabulous restaurant! This was my favorite meal of our recent vacation to Canada. The menu was very intriguing with entree combinations that sounded a little unconventional and turned out to taste fantastic. I had tuna tartare for my entree--that was divine. The meal was creatively and beautifully presented. They somehow created a beet wonton stuffed with tuna as well (it looked cool and tasted great). My husband went with the duck, which he also loved. The service was very attentive. Can't wait to return.

The setting in this restaurant is superb: table cloths and carpeted flooring help dampen the sound so you can have a decent conversation without screaming. If you are lucky enough to nab a table next to the windows facing the lake, you are most likely to see hummingbirds just a couple of feet away. Classical music plays quietly in the background. The service is wonderful, friendly and attentive. But the drawback is that the food is pretty bland and you don't get much of it for your money, especially not the table d'hote menu at $90 Canadian a head. We ate there twice: first time round I had a boring fresh salad followed by a rather tasteless helping of lamb. The second time I paid extra for an uninspiring lobster starter and then a rather salty chunk of walleye salmon. The breakfasts though are excellent.
