São Miguel do Gostoso is a municipality in the state of Rio Grande do Norte in the Northeast region of Brazil São Miguel do Gostoso (previously known as São Miguel de Touros) was founded on 29 September 1884. Creation of the Municipality On 16 July 1993, the beachfront town of São Miguel split from the municipality of Touros. The new municipality São Miguel do Gostoso held its first elections in 1996 and at this time it was decided that the town would retain its original name of São Miguel de Touros. This decision not to rename the newly created municipality, left the local population disgruntled and as a result a series of requests for a name change were submitted to the head of the municipality. On 19 November 2000, 7 years on from its independence from the municipality of Touros, a local referendum was held and the town's name was changed to São Miguel do Gostoso. São Miguel do Gostoso - Origin of the Name According to legend, there was once a man living in the area named Mr. Manoel Gostoso who was known to give shelter to travelling salesmen. Due to Sr. Manoel Gostoso's unique sense of humor (he entertained his guests with stories and jokes) and contagious laugh Mr. Manoel Gostoso became known in the town as Mr. Gostoso. Thereafter, not only the travelling salesmen but also the locals began to refer to the town as Gostoso. On 29 September 1899, Mr. Miguel Félix Martins, in order to fulfill his promise made to the Saint São Miguel, inaugurated the first church of the instated the Saint's image. From that day onward São Miguel has been the Patron Saint of Gostoso. The local population then joined São Miguel to the previous name of Gostoso to create São Miguel do Gostoso. São Miguel do Gostoso - The Growth of Tourism In the past to arrive to São Miguel do Gostoso was on horseback. However, in the 1960s the road system BR-101 and RN-221 (Project Pólo Costa das Dunas) were constructed to improve the access between Natal and São Miguel do Gostoso. As a result of these highway constructions São Miguel do Gostoso is easy accessible. In the past the town houses were constructed mainly of "taipa" but are today mostly constructed in bricks and cement. In relation to tourism, the city had in 1989 only one Pousada (local Bed & Breakfast. The tourinhos beach is a wonderful place to be at sea. Far from the city center, it is a good to escape from everything. Commonly the beach is full at the weekends. Most of natives goes there.

The beach is really beautiful, but because of the wind it's not good for people who want to swim. The wind brings up the sand and it's not comfortable to stay in a place and get covered by sand. To wind-surfers, it the perfect spot.

They are all one single beach but each part has a different name. If you go to Santo Cristo the school of kite/wind is nicer and the restaurants too. Go to one called Mar y Brasa, beautiful people and excellent food.

We were told this beach had the best sunset view, and we were not displeased. In the early afternoon,I helped the local fishermen haul in their nets while waiting for our lunch to be grilled. We released a huge Sea Turtle and had raw shrimp while helping collect the catch of the day.Of course, fresh coconut water, was our refreshment drink. This place ranks very high in my list of favorite places to lunch, swim, meditate, and enjoy the sunset.

The beach is nice as the others. What makes it different is the complete structure for kite and windsurf (it's Kauli Seadi's choice) including a rescue boat.
Early mornings and late afternoons can be used for SUP playings. But during most of the day the wind is garanteed (wind season goes from august to january but in general july and february are good months too). Good waves depend on swells.

It is quite far, but with a buggy is fun... Avoid driving on the beach (as most locals and tourists do) cause there is pleanty of sea turtles leaving thier eggs along this coast. The plus of this beach is the fact that very few tourist do reach this place!

Esta é mais uma linda praia nas proximidades de São Miguel do Gostoso.
Ótima para o banho de mar com a água sempre tépida e um visual muito agradável.
Muito interessante assistir o por do sol nesta praia. É mágico!
