Spiaggia di Mondello

We were quite disappointed by the beach which was rather dirty (lots of algae and plastic waste), and the showers and restrooms near the beach were not operational (only in summer?). It’s a pity that the public authorities don’t take care of this beautiful beach in a better way.

My girlfriend found this on Facebook and booked for a visit to Isola De Femme. To start off this is very cheap ride on boat that can allow to unravel the deep sea secrets. The staff is extremely friendly and treated us with a glass of wine and cheese in the boat ride. Eve though the island tour is a bit boring for me what excited is the boat ride the food and friendly welcoming staff on boat all for 5 euro. Even though we are living in Mondello the staff has given us free ride from hotel to the port comforting our experience. Don't miss it

Antico Stabilimento Balneare di Mondello which is a lovely pier area with bars and restaurants. It's also a lovely spot for views of the coast and certainly a spot worth visiting if you are in the area. When I dropped by the restaurant was closed as it was a public holiday.

Palazzo Conte Federico

The palazzo is in the center of the old city only a few steps away from the Norman Palace. the Cathedral and the Market Ballarò. The oldest part of the palace is an Arab-Norman Tower of the 12th century. You can observe verious architectural styles, high painted ceilings of the 15th century, baroque ceiling frescoes by Vito D'Anna and Gaspare Serenario, various collections and original furniture. Since Count Federico's family, which can be followed back to the Hohenstaufen Emperor Friedrich II, has lived in this palace for centuries, the personal atmosphere makes a visit to this historical building a unique experience.

Fantastic tour of historic Palazzo in Palermo. Andrea (one of the sons) led the tour in English and walked us through the rich history of the building but also of Palermo. Well worth the 10 eruos and we foudn out that you can also spend the night there through Airbnb...worth looking into!

Faro di Capo Gallo

A very peaceful and beautiful walk up to the lighthouse. There's a very small fee to get into the park, but the views and the ocean are very worth it. Once you get to the lighthouse you can't go any further, but there are interesting buildings on the way.
It's around a 15 minute walk from the sea front, and another 15-20 to get to the lighthouse. We went in a late afternoon, there's no shade so avoid the middle of the day!

We were lucky to go there with a small boat trip organised from the old Port beyond La Torre Hôtel. The specialise in snorkelling and diving trips to remote places like Grotta del Ollio and the Formica Tower on the other side of the bay. Amazing out of season- it must be a nightmare in July or August sadly. Great light, great fish and atmosphere.

Our kids loved this place, we were here early in the season (May) so it wasn't busy but unfortunately the pool area hadn't opened yet. They still enjoyed the bouncy Castles and rides etc and begged to go back again. Great option if you're in the area.

Lovely sand, although on the Sunday afternoon we visited not much of it could be seen - it was so busy! I think half of Palermo had had the same idea of an afternoon on the beach. Everybody was having a fabulous time.
