This restaurant was recommended to us by the landlord of a local pub in Bernkastel-Kues. So pleased that we took his advice and ate here. The ambience was amazing, the food exceptional and the service was seconding to none. Amouse bouche and different breads with curry butter and schmaltz as an entre. The starter was a bowl of beef broth with noodles and plenty of tender beef pieces, then I had the tastiest, crispest duck ever and it just melted in your mouth. My husband had the same starter, followed by tranditional German dumplings. Yummy. We shared a scrummy desert and then coffee. Together with 2 carafes of delicious Riesling wine, the bill came to 89 euros. Delightful, polite young waiters and waitresses. Well impressed and would definitely return.

The owner and the server helped us along with our limited German. The server was most patient and helpful. A delightful experience, river front, on the upper patio under the heat lamps. Very good food, excellent service, charming ambience. Apparently, they own the vineyard surrounding the area. As we drove in, we could not imagine tending grapevines that are grown on 1 foot or less wide ledges far above. Amazing little monkeys these kids must be who do that climbing. We have traveled the world and we fell in love with this area. The Bellevue hotel made recommendations for restaurants. We are foodies and were so pleased.

Great full service spot on top of the mountain amid the castle ruins. Clean modern restrooms, casual (read slow...) service belies a great spot for Alsatian-style pizzas and decent selection of beers, coffee and wine by the glass. We tried the 300 year old recipe for cheese in mustard, grape seed oil & sour bread....it's a pass. The flatbread /pizzas are surprisingly good...probably as most have bacon and sour cream or creme fraiche. A few glasses of Riesling and a couple of pizzas, some castle pictures makes for a perfect afternoon. Service was friendly and they speak passable English, there is an English menu as well, would go every visit!!

This is a most pleasant upmarket restaurant. Service is highly professional while losing nothing in welcoming friendliness. There are various dinner menus on offer and you can decide how many courses to have. My main course was duck and it was excellent as were the starter, soup and dessert.

Great place to dine outdoors off the beaten track in a quiet, romantic alley of Traben. Good, basic food and very good service.

The hotel recommended and booked this restaurant for us and we were not disappointed!
The restaurant is right by the Mosel and tastefully decorated.
The food was also delicious with enough choices to satisfy all tastes but short enough to ensure it's freshly prepared.
Will go back should I find myself in Traben-Trarbach again....

Cafe Thiesen serves up very good traditional German dishes. We both started with their version of French onion soup (okay, not everything is German!) which was quite good. We then moved on to the traditional Wiener Schnitzel. The portion was quite large, the breading good but not as crispy as we would have liked and served with very good German-style roasted potatoes. There's plenty of wine by the glass to choose from and the prices quite cheap. The room is not as attractive as other restaurants in the area but still comfortable. The service was excellent (and menus are available in English).

We booked this little eatery on the strength of some excellent recent reviews on TripAdvisor and certainly weren't disappointed. The dining room was suitably rustic and the menu had a good range of predominantly local dishes. The dishes we sampled - trout, spit-roast pork, wiener schnitzel, apfelstrudel, and cheese board were all excellent. And our server, Deniz, was exceptionally helpful and professional, and in fact downright charming with his excellent English and dry sense of humour. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and would thoroughly recommend this lovely little eatery.
