This recognizable fell is located in the village of Kilpisjarvi. You can climb to the top of the fell (1029m) along a trail which starts at the Kilpisjarvi tourist centre. Scrambling up to the top of Saana is a challenge worth doing. The longest set of stairs in Finland helps you at the steepest part of the four kilometer journey. From the top of the Saana you can see for miles!
Just drive you car to the hiking center beside the road and the hiking trail begins there. It's easy to hike to the top. The steepest side has stairs. Lovely view all the way to the top.

We went out for the border of three countries snowmobiling tour when it was about -24 Celsius. The staff ensured everyone had the proper gear and provided an enclosed sleigh for younger children. Safety is their number one priority.
The outing was fantastic despite the frigid temperatures. The color of the little daylight we had reflecting off the ice and snow was amazing! We stopped along the way to enjoy the scenery as well as to move around a bit to warm up. When we reached our destination at the three borders marker, the guides provided everyone with hot coffee or tea and a small piece of cake.
I highly recommend Kilpissafarit day tours. Be sure to book in advance during the busy seasons. Communication at booking and throughout the adventure is excellent.

The borders of Finland, Sweden and Norway meet at the Three Nation's Border Point that stands on a man-made island in the Malla Strict Nature Reserve. The point is located about 11 km west from the village of Kilpisjarvi. You get there by hiking or skiing through the Malla Strict Nature Reserve, or during summer you can get there by the Malla boat.
Anticlimactic but the hike out was glorious and worth doing. I started at the car park and did the full 12 k round trip. Views, waterfall, reindeer. Lovely.

Tips for self guided snowshoeing and hiking tours in Kilpisjarvi area. We rent showshoes, walking poles and headlamps. And we also offer guided Aurora Borealis showshoeing trips if you does not want just rent snowshoes and start exploring by your own.
I have not been to Finland yet. I am going to Kilpisjarvi in March, 2017. I was looking for information and found site "Playa del Kilpis Tours". I found there some useful information and decided to ask Marjo & Ansku some questions. ("Playa del Kilpis Tours" is their site). I wrote them and got in return very detailed and really warm letter. Now I know where I may rent snowshoes when I am there. And where I should bring my personal "Thank you"

Tsahkal Falls (also known as Tsahkalputous and Cahkaljohka) is a series of small Waterfalls which are 0.5-3 meters high. So they are small but very beautiful.
Tsahkal Falls are situated near the bridge on the hiking route between Saana Fell and Luontotalo (Kilpisjarvi Visitor Centre). However, it is easiest to get there from the village shop of Kilpisjärvi (K-Market Kilpishalli) and restaurant Ravintola Kilpis. You can leave your car at the parking place of the village shop (address Käsivarrentie 14219). A path of Kalottireitti Trail to Halti begins next to the parking place (between the parking place and Urpiaisentie Street). Follow this path 1 kilometer and you will find Tsahkal Falls.
I and my teenage son loved Tsahkal Falls very much. They are easy to visit and very beautiful.
