Lemon Park

Lemon Park is where the consolation bracket games were played for the 2016 Kansas NBC State 12U Baseball Tournament. It is a cozy park with lots of wooded areas, picnic areas, playgrounds and a couple baseball parks. We thoroughly enjoyed the park! I understand that the Parks and Rec people show a movie in the park in the summers on Saturday nights at least sometimes...and it's free :)

Pratt County Historial Museum

Reviewed By NandyPengarah - Pretoria, South Africa

To say that we had incorrectly pre-judged this museum would be a huge understatement! We were attracted by the oddity of the Miss Kansas exhibition and with Pratt being on our road-trip route through Kansas, we stopped off to give the Museum a cursory glance. What we found instead was a lovingly maintained and genuinely interesting museum telling the story of a city’s past.

In the end we spent the best part of 2 hours browsing the museum’s various attractions and curiosities and chatting to the energetic and engaging old couple who had given up their Sunday afternoon to staff the museum. We left with a warm feeling, suitably impressed with the community spirit and attention that had gone into both creating and maintaining this place.

Great find, and definitely worth a visit. Particularly as there is not even an entry fee (although a donation is appreciated).

Pratt Fish Hatchery

Reviewed By Clintlinda

This is a wonderful place to learn about many kinds of Kansas wildlife. Visitors to the Pratt Education Center can see displays about predators, shorebirds, waterfowl, eggs, insects, reptiles, and amphibians. There are also 12 aquariums featuring native fish as well as several terrariums with native snakes and lizards. Museum has displays of native Americans and stuffed animals native to the area.
The Fish Hatchery consists of 87 ponds. Channel catfish, largemouth bass, striped bass, walleye, sauger, and bluegill are produced here. During spring and fall migrations, many species of shorebirds use ponds in varying stages of drawdowns. Terns and gulls are common during these times; occasionally an osprey can be seen. In the warmer seasons, herons, kingfishers, and sunning turtles are visible around the hatchery ponds. Park at the office and walk along some of the ponds on the east side to get a good view.
Pratt County Veterans Memorial Lake lies immediately east of the hatchery and office. The lake attracts ducks, herons, and kingfishers, and the extensive cattail marsh at the west end is alive with red-winged blackbirds and wading birds in the summer. Great for bird watching

Pratt's All Veterans Memorial Complex

A great time to stop by the B-29 All Veterans Memorial is dusk, which gives an amber hue to the fixtures. Take time to study the dedication stones, where special stories emerge. I look forward to the development of museum and interpretation facilities here, as the memorial is situated at a historic WW II pilot training site.
