This is the first time I'd been to a dairy queen that gave me a number and delivered my cone 10 minutes later. Staff was nice, wait was unusual, but my daughter's ice cream cone tasty "fizzy" (I tasted to verify) like a Slurpee so we threw it away

It had been about a year since I visited Pal’s, but had friends in from out of town so we headed out there for dinner. Great service by several different servers....not sure why such a variety but all did a great job. Still the same great atmosphere and fun vibe going on there. However, I feel like the food quality has really declined! Previously, I had ordered the salad....with chicken. I had it last night....it was just a big pile of giant spinach leaves with VERY little pieces of chicken that I really had to search for. The dressing was still good....but the lack of nuts and other promised items.....really disappointed me. We also had nachos...lots of great chips but not much of the other items as all. The pizza that the guys ordered was good....but still short on toppings. Seem like they are trying to save some money on food costs by not adding as much as they did last year!
Again....great service! Hope they get back to great food!

I have tried this place various times and every time is the same. Teenage employees that have bad attitudes and poor working skills, who would rather talk in the back room then wait on customers. The ice cream isnt anything special and the prices are sky high. You would be better off going to the wal mart and getting your ice cream and saving a ton of money. Honestly i have no idea how this place stays open.

Starbucks

We were here during the 2017 eclipse. So, by definition, this place was crowded. But everyone working here had a good attitude and I had good coffee.

This location seems to have more drive-thru business than in-store business. They have a barista and a cashier just doing drive-thru. Good plan.

The layout inside seems odd to me. You walk in to the order line - which is at the midpoint of the building - it spreads out long ways on either side of the line. One side has couches and the other side has tables and chairs. More of a working area. It seems awkward - like you can't get from one end to the other.

I took my coffee outside, so it didn't matter to me.

Canteen Bar & Lounge

We went to see the eclipse in July 2017 and chose North Platte as our destination city. We stayed in the Quality Inn. After the eclipse, we were so ready for a good lunch.

And we got one here at the Canteen Bar and Lounge. Like everywhere that was in the eclipse path, the restaurant was very busy. And, the staff handled everything very well. Our food was excellent, we didn't have a long wait time, and it was a generally cheerful place.

We had a beer each while we chose our dinners. I was surprised to have some local choices on tap. I had a steak sandwich smothered in peppers, onions and cheese. It was a little pricey- but it was a steak, not steak-umms. I loved it.

My husband had the fried pork loin sandwich which was every bit as good as the ones we have had in Indiana. Tender pork that was crunchy on the outside and the house made chips were wonderful.

The history that is alluded to by the name of the restaurant - and shown in old photos is the fact that so many troop trains came through here in WW II and were met by volunteers with coffee, sandwiches and friendship. Really very touching and interesting to read about.

Delicious cold brew coffee and various choices for under 5 bucks. Their normal drip is under 3 dollars and offers one free refill.
Did I mention it is smooth full bodied coffee?
We only breakfast sandwiches, but they were very fresh and delicious. I had a Multigrain toast with red pepper hummus, avocado with bean sprouts. Also, they were generous with avocado and flavor. It was city, hipster food with small town prices.
My fiance devoured his bacon egg and cheese sandwich.

Definitely stop here if you are on your way through Nebraska.

Luigi's

Reviewed By barbqbill - Omaha, Nebraska

I prefer local dining spots to the chains. Luigi’s fills that bill. The menu has a decent selection of items, plus daily specials up on a board. The food was okay, but my spaghetti seemed preheated and a bit stale. The chicken parm was not particularly good, but it was served quickly and was hot. Service was average.
What really irritated me was the fact that the restaurant chose to blare Ye haw country music off the local radio station. How that improves on the atmosphere of an Italian restaurant is beyond me.
