Whether or not you have a reservation, the show starts when you enter the restaurant and ask for a table: you´ll be waiting for a room-manager that literally shouts the family names on the waiting list... When seated, you´ll be introduced to various plates of regional gastronomy, all supposed to be family produced, and accompanied by their own wines... If you survive, try at least one of their desserts and fruit licors. And be sure you won´t be unhappily surprised by the price!

We enjoyed a late lunch at the museum's restaurant. It has a great view over the valley and is an important part of the "Museum for the Bread".
The buffet is about 10 meters long and has everythng one can wish for; hors d'oeuvres, fish, meat, vegetables and some really great desserts. Really yummie.
The service was quick and friedly.

We found this restaurant whilst travelling around the national park & were absolutely blown away by the ambience & food quality . We have eaten at Michelin starred restaurants including the Hand & Flowers at Marlow recently & this place easily matches or beats them in all respects .
We started the meal with a selection of tasters & breads which we both thought were lovely . My 1st course was the goats cheese & forest fruit compote in filo pastry , delicious , secondly I had the wild boar which was cooked medium rare & melted in the mouth , it was garnished with 6 clams which I am not a fan of but they were quickly finished off by my wife who is a shellfish lover. My wife had the grouse soup with pastry cover to start & the grilled baby lamb & rice for her main , again both were delicious , especially the lamb . I finished off with crime brûlée which was triple sized & the best I have ever had.
To drink we had a bottle of spring water , a glass of orange for me , the driver & a huge glass of red wine for my wife plus an espresso , total bill 53.60 euros.
Our bill for two starters & two mains plus wine & coffee at the Hand & Flowers was over £155 , the quality at both was just as good .
As a final Pont the toilets were 5 star , they are disguised as a chapel & the blue led from Jesus goes to the male door & the pink one from Mary goes to the ladies , sounds tacky but it's well worth a look.

The food was great and service was very efficient, friendly and warm. The waiters and owner were very friendly, the place was pitoresque and cosy and it's not very expensive. Sure hope to come back.

We stopped really hungry in Gouveia prior to our driving to hilly NP Serra da Estrela. Somehow on google and tripadvisor we find out this "O Julio" Restaurant and located very easy in city of Gouveia. We seeked for a restaurant which don't have english, german or spanish menu in front as we consider that as tourist trap. This one had only portuguese Menu, locals sitting and drinking wine outside, smell of food was fantastic so we thought everything should be perfect. And that's It what was positive about this place. Grumpy unfriendly waitress served us, as older waiter didn't speak english. Since we arrived at 18.00, and they serve food from 19.00 waitress offered that she will ask the Cook if he is willing to prepare some meals, even tough we were only one step to leave this place. She came with information that we can order but only meals which didn't have "X" in Menu. The remaining meals were all had pork meet with one vegetable meal as option for non-meat people. We heard that portuguese lamb or beef steakes are great in this area so we wanted to try It, but unfortunately this wasn't a proper place. Carrot soup and beans soup came first and they were pretty good, but after that came "Arroz de Pork" - rice with black beans and pork chops, and other dish which I got was pork chops with potatoes. Pork was eatable, plain boiled potatoes in water were good too - nothing special, but much better then risotto with black beans and pork which my friends had. Whole atmosphere was pathetic and unmotivated to enjoy our meals. It's interesting that inside in one room, on the walls you can see at least 30 certificates of culinary excellence. I wish we witnessed the same on our plates.

I wish I could be as hard as their bread was , service was extremely slow and quite rude , Calde Verde soup had 2 pieces of chorizo , my cat has the luxury of eating more that I had..
I ordered a dish of the day and it took almost all day to arrive ... the soup took 26 mins to arrive and was lukewarm !
All the tables had reserved tags but in time I was there , there were 3 customers ...
Fish was microwaved and therefore rubbery, rice was 2 spoonfuls of cold unevenly microwaved rice
Chips were all uncooked and had a deep heavy slap of salt seasoning
Overall terrible food extreme delays spent 1:45 mins waiting, boring and outdated environment , no music , or lively environment .
Truly regret wasting time and €49.60 in this place
Gave up waiting for the change so just walked out ...
Left hungry , disappointed and €50 lighter
Would have had more satisfaction from a parking ticket in London !

Have stayed 2 nights at the hotel related to a 7 days bike trip in Portugal and can only recommend the hotel!
Special in terms of absorbing local culture & design (Burel), providing local cuisine and great service by the staff (both reception, food & beverage, spa staff).
Felt at home and really like the natural materials used in the guest rooms, relax area, common rooms, dinner/breakfast rooms.
Definitely a hotel I'd return to! The staff is well trained, the cuisine is providing top-notch menus (both dinner, lunch & breakfast), great wine menu & all that in a very relaxed atmosphere! Don't forget to book a visit to the Burel factory downtown Manteigas - it's worth exploring the "old/new ways" of producing high quality wool products.

After 3 weeks everywhere from Lisbon to Porto, and around, I conclude: O Flor is my favorite restaurent in Portugal. Ricardo, our waiter, was friendly and helped us with the choice of meals and wine. We shared 4 different plates (cabrito, javali Flor, feijocas do monte, arroz carqueija); all were fantastic! Javali (wild pork) in particular was absolutely delicious. It is not surprising that this restaurent won several prices in gastronomic contests. Actually, the surprise is the bill. Very low cost (87.80 euros for 4 persons) for soo good meals. I highly recommend this restaurent.
