This is a very nice temple and a vantage point to see Coimbatore city. Early mornings are pleasant and you can see the sunrise. Please avoid going during the day during summer. Also if taking Uber or ola tell the drivers that they should wait at the temple. Extra payment may be required as their coverage area ends at the start of the hillock. There is bus to the temple from this point. But easier to take your cab by paying a toll. Worth a visit.

The Eachanari Vinayagar Temple is located at a distance of 13 km from Coimbatore on the Pollachi road. Built in 1500 AD, Eachanari Vinayagar Temple is one of the oldest pilgrimage centers dedicated to Lord Vinayaga.
The idol at the Eachanari Vinayagar Temple is one of the largest ones and measures up to 6 ft in height. Inscriptions at the temple confirm that the idol was brought in from Madurai and was originally meant for the Perur Patteshwarar temple.
The temple is opened from 5 am to 10 pm. The whole family can take part in the special offerings on special days like Chathurthi, Amavasya, Poornima and Karthika.
Though open on all days throughout the year, the best time to visit the Eachanari Vinayagar Temple is during the Hindu festivals like Vinayaka Chathurthi, Thaipoosam, Saraswathi Pooja, Deepavali, Tamil New Year Day and Karthika Deepam when offerings like Homam, Abhishekam, Alangaram, and Deepaaradhanai are done here.

Perur Patteeswara Swamy temple is the most popular temple in Coimbatore Built by the King Karikala Cholan, this temple is situated 7 kms west of Coimbatore near river Noyyal. The presiding deity is Shiva and the 'Swayambu Lingam' is the idol worshipped here. This sanctum is the joint effort of the Chola, Hoysala and Vijayanagara rulers during their reign. The greatest attraction of the temple is the 'Kanaka Saba' or the golden hall which is adorned by a gold plated statue of Nataraja bestowing blessings upon the two sages - Gowmuni and Pattimuni.Never miss to see the amazing idols of Vinayakar, oorthuthandavar and 8 such single stone Marvels in Kanaka Sabhai. The Dhyanalinga is set amidst the foothills of the Velliangiri Mountains, the first of its kind to be completed in over 2000 years. This powerful meditative space does not ascribe to any particular faith or belief system nor does it require any ritual, prayer, or worship. In June 1999, Dhyanalinga was consecrated by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, a realized master, mystic and yogi, after three years of intense process of prana prathista (process of energizing an object using one's own life energies). Measuring 13' 9", Dhyanalinga is the largest mercury-based live linga in the world. All the aspects of life are enshrined in the form of seven chakras, energized to the very peak and locked to prevent dissipation over time. It is expected that the energies of the Dhyanalinga will not suffer dissipation for at least 5000 years. THEERTAKUNDS The Dhyanalinga features two Theerthakunds, which are subterranean tanks with solidified mercury lingas immersed in water, built as preparatory tools to enhance one's spiritual receptivity before entering the Dhyanalinga. The Theerthakunds, are very powerful by themselves. It straightens out the energy or the pranic imbalances in a person, which leads to physical and mental well-being. Above all, it creates a tremendous receptivity to imbibe the energies of Dhyanalinga. They are open for Gents and Ladies from 7:30AM to 8:00PM NADHA ARADHANA An offering of sound to the Dhyanalinga, Nadha Aradhana is an etheric blend of vocals, singing bowls, drums and various other instruments amplified within the reverberating Dome, transporting one into the timeless space of the Dhyanalinga. The offering takes place twice a day, from 11:50 am to 12:10 pm and from 5:50 pm to 6:10 pm. These times are recognized as special sandhya kalas for meditators. A sandhya kala is a phase when nature undergoes certain transitions and makes a person more receptive to inner possibilities. AUMKAR MEDITATION Visitors to the Dhyanalinga can further deepen their experience by attending this daily introduction to the timeless and powerful mantra "Aum." This meditation is known to have transcendental qualities. It can bring peace and balance to one's system, and is known to relieve people from numerous physical and mental ailments when practiced regularly. Aumkar meditation is offered daily from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm.
I have visited this 2-3 times. The crowd management at the bag and shoe deposit can be better. Eventhough the volunteers are friendly, you dont get a feeling of sanctity due to the artificialness of the place. The security staffs at the entrance are quite rude.

Vellingiri Hills (famous Isha Foundation is at the foot hills) is called Southern Kailash. On Shivratri more than one lakh (10 million) devotees went up this steep hill, amidst wild Forests, on prior permission (Feb 1 to May 31: TN Forest Dept Permission). It is in 6000 plus feet height and Shiva is on a simple cave, 6 hill tops with one having a natural water source and it is a very hard task. Beyond permitted days, not allowed to go due to the dangers of the forest, windy season atop a hill with no grip and other issues. Very few photos are available as photographing Deity is considered offensive. Here are ones from local newspaper “ Dinamalar” page 4 of Coimbatore edition (16 Feb 2018)
